Over the last few years we have moved several times. Each time we pack up our stuff, our multitude of books and move; and each time, boxes don't get unpacked. Things we can't live without stay in their boxes, so maybe we don't need them.
Maybe this is a carry-over from Greg. We tried to do a count of everywhere he's lived and at 40+ years of age he's probably moved 35+ times. That doesn't mean he's stopped collecting 'things', just that every so often he has this get-rid-of-things blow out.

Really, we don't need everything we have. We can live with fewer clothes, fewer books, and consequently less furniture. But we don't want to just throw it out, so gradually we are selling it all.
The ultimate goal is reduce our stuff enough that we don't need to have a storage unit when we head overseas for a few years.
